International aviation, including in Australia, is in a strong growth phase at the moment and that growth is expected to remain strong for the medium term at least. More and more professional pilots are needed. On top of that, a large number of current airline captains, both domestic and international, are in their 50s and moving into their 60s and are becoming due to retire. Openings are increasingly becoming available at the entry levels. Of course, airlines are not the only area in which you can earn a living as a Commercial Pilot. Charter pilots, especially for business jet operations, are also in big demand. Why are Flight Instructors, in particular, in short supply? The growth in the industry along with the decline in supply means the airlines and other employers are being forced to poach good, experienced pilots. Flight Instructors are the obvious group. So if you can get your CPL and do a Flight Instructor course you are very likely to begin earning your living as a pilot straight away, accumulating your command hours and working your way methodically towards your career goals. Unless you are a cadet, the airlines and charter operators require a healthy number of command hours plus advanced skills such as twin endorsement and an IFR rating. Becoming a Flight Instructor is the perfect way to put all this together, because you can begin to fund the advanced flight training you need. Being a Flight Instructor is still easily the quickest and most effective route to progress to your ultimate goals. Pacific Flight Services conduct six OPERATION Airborne courses per year. Our Instructor Rating courses are full-time with completion normally in 8 weeks. You can pay for the course fee in three instalments to make it easier on your budget. You must already hold a CPL and either a NVFR or an Instrument Rating before commencing the Instructor Rating. We will assist you with an industry placement on completion of your course. If for some reason you cannot attend one of these group courses you may choose to undertake individual training. Ring PFS on (02) 9791 0055 to apply.
